New Chairman

Peter Murray elected to serve as Chairman of OPDU’s Advisory Council

Peter Murray has been elected as the Chairman of the Advisory Council following the retirement of Alan Herbert who has chaired the Council since our launch in 1997.
The Advisory Council is elected from OPDU’s membership to repre-sent the interests of the insured schemes and sponsoring employers to ensure that we remain as pro-active as possible in meeting the needs of our membership and in helping to raise standards in the management of pension schemes generally.

We are delighted that Peter Murray has accepted the post and his wealth of experience and standing in the pensions community will play a major role in ensuring that OPDU continues to lead the market in protecting pension schemes with its unique combination of comprehensive insurance and advisory services. Peter Murray is a trustee of the Railways Pensions Trustee Company, our largest member, and was its Chief Executive until his retirement. He was Chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds between 1997 and 1999 and Vice-President from 1999 to 2001.
